Geez... this is why I cring at writing
when I don't have my reference material at hand.

...  "stuck with the GF-2 improvements"
should read "... with the GF-1 improvements."

The Army went their own way after that.  They continued
to improve the basic SCR-183 / -283 set until final 
production as SCR-AS-183 / -283 by Philco.  
I have seen a transmitter control box by Philco 
marked as part of  "SCR-AT-183."  
This may have been a "left over" from the contracts 
cancelled in 1942, but no way to know for sure.  
I've never seen anything else for -AT.
