[ARC5] GF-11

I am investigating the GF-11 transmitter. It seems to me to be historically 
important.

I have found a schematic from an old Surplus Schematics Handbook, 
although it is a bit small. Nonetheless, it is readable.

So, what can the list tell me about this transmitter? Who used it? How long 
was it in service? Did the model see any action during WWII? What has 
been modern users' experiences with it? Etc?

It appears to me to look somewhat like the ARC-5's grandpa, but perhaps it 
isn't.

Looking on the net, I find some information on it, but that all seems to be 
outdated.

Also, I cannot find any sort of manual for it. Is there such available?
