One wonders if, in fact, there is any *real* advantage to that black
wrinkle paint.  I've seen many well-used in naval service R-28/ARC-5
and T-23/ARC-5 units (made by Western Electric) and I've never seen any
significant external aluminum corrosion.

It's always surprized me that WECO wasn't able to eliminate the crackle
paint on their other USN products, like the RU-16/GF-11 and RU-17/GF-12,
the AN/ARR-2, and the AN/ARC-4.
