Hello Mike:

Les Smith here, from Australia.  I miss the point of your comment that  it's not possible to "use" this equipment without destroying it.

Do you mean, for example that using a BC-453 as a Q-5er means taking it out of the rack, hooking it up with other (non-command) equipment, or do you mean that these sets are merely fragile, and can't be used in their original configuration?  

My question isn't a "big deal".  I'm simply trying to put your comment into a context I understand.
