Yes. When I was MUCH younger, I would make the 1st IF in my ARC-5 
receivers regenerative this way, and would add a pot to the cathode resistor 
to control it.

It made a huge difference in increased selectivity on WEAK signals, but as 
the signal levels got stronger, the effect got weaker.

I would use two pieces of #12 solid TH wire stripped out of some Romex, 
solder them to the grid and plate terminals under the chassis, mount them 
side-by-side, and keep cutting them off until the IF stage would JUST go into 
oscillation with the cathode pot at minimum. As I remember it, they would 
end up being about 1/2 inch long.

It was especially useful on 40 meters.

Now, I would use a simple converter and a BC-453 or R-23/ARC-5 instead.
