HORNET had hydraulic cats so the bang wasn't *quite* as bad as steam but
aboard a Stoof the difference seems insignificant.  :-) 

We also used to deck launch the Stoofs (and I think Spads) now and then to
keep the aircrews on their toes.  They had at best 2/3 of the deck which
made it fun to watch.
