You're a special case, because of your isolation in the Islands.
Even so, I'd bet coffee and donut...no; two donuts (double or nuttin!)
that there is an option.

OK- you ready for some people to really get mad? ;-)

People cuss dealers, and project that they do so out of
some high-minded rightiousness that they can't even define.
The truth is: It's simple envy, covetousness and jealousy.
Always. Period.

Honest dealers are absolutely essential to keeping
any collectable alive and available to those with
a passion for them. Without dealers, all our precious
goodies would long ago have been -in- -the- -DUMP-.

In fact, honest dealers and traders far outnumber
dishonest ones. Now, some are smarter than others,
and some are more experianced than others,
but that's not a matter of honesty.
Dealers are people, not angels. They make mistakes.
But most of them are honest mistakes.

We can all tell horror stories about bad dealers,
so please don't reply with yours
because 100 more will follow.
If we stop and think about it
we could tell dozens more about honest deals.
But those would be boring;
everyone loves to commiserate ;-)

If you are really concerned about preserving gear
for another cycle of stewardship,
spend a little time finding a good, honest
and experianced dealer (preferably one not likely
to die before you, lol). Ask around (being aware
that jealousy may taint some accounts you hear).
Become acquanted. Go have lunch. Then make plans.
I did exactly that, and found a good, decent man
in South Texas. When it's time, he will come
and "sweep the floor" and cut my wife a check.
I've told her: "It will not be as much as
you think it should be, and it will be
more than he should pay."
There is someone like that near every one of us.
We just have to do the work of finding him.
