According to "The Complete Encyclopedia of the World's Aircraft" the Douglas Dauntless was the SBD. It was a dive bomber, not a torpedo bomber. The torpedo planes were the Douglas TBD "Devastator" and the Grumman TBF "Avenger" - Gordon White
