[ARC5] Help with tuning knob ideas for ARC-5 receiver

I know everyone is horrified at cutting a tuning cable and taking a knob 
off a remote control, but remember, back in the 1960s,  control boxes 
were a dime a dozen as were control cables. There were a lot of 
cannaballized controls and broken cables from which to take such things. 
Later, tuning splines could be bought by the handful.
