Hi Everybody,
I have been a casual seller and casual buyer over the last several
years. More recently I've been trading with other hams on the lists but
I still look at items in the bay. As for the shipping...I like to ask
for a couple dollars for the packing materials and the exact freight
cost. More recently I have been paring down my inventory of "schtuff"
especially a pile of tubes I will never use by just giving them away for
the cost of sending them. I have never asked for any kind of
compensation for the time I spend making a box to fit, wrapping the
item(s), packing them, and taking them for a ride. I consider that time
enjoyable as I get to fondle the items one last time. If I had something
like an Ebat store and I had to pay somebody for their time packing
items I would have to recover that cost somehow. I can understand that
commercial operations have to do that. But I'm an amateur. A few
receiving tubes in a home made box cost typically less than two bucks
for postage. Enough bubble wrap to protect them and some new tape for
the box is not much.
By the way..I have just completed a sort and re-inventory of my vacuum
tubes. I have to hold onto some for spares and projects that I know I am
going to use. Some of them I have no use. I have been just watching the
lists for people asking about tubes and offering if I have them. If
there is any interest I can post a list somewhere of tubes I am not
going to keep. I would have done it already but it seems like a clumsy
way to manage. Someday somebody is going to see it after all the tubes
are gone and get excited. It goes downhill from there.

Bill KU8H
