As recently as October when I sold some tubes, you could still specify
a fixed shipping rate for all. With caveats of course (fixed rate for
US addresses only, others email before bedding). I've found this
method to work well, since ebay decided to try to control everything a
seller does now. Sometimes I come out a dollar or two ahead, but it's
always offest by the sales where I'm too low (generally when shipping
east to west coast) and end up paying part of the shipping. Most
recently this happened when selling some 845 triodes to a guy in CA,
but considering he paid nearly $1600 for the pair, I didn't mind
kicking in a few bucks on the shipping. It's when you're selling the
little bits that it gets dicey and you can end up basically paying
someone to take your stuff. That's when it gets difficult to convince
yourself that the "larger ebay audience" is worth the hassle.
