!938 my dad bought a used 1936 116X console. 250-390 kcs., broadcast thru
22 mcs.
I started grade school in Sept 1941. War started in Dec.
Dad ran what seemed like 1/2 mile of wire up the side of the canyon we lived
in.
Wish I could remember it all. Much short wave listening. Neighbors came over
to listen.
All I wanted to hear was Don Winslow, navy pilot and Capt Midnight.
Do remember Death Valley days. Scared the hell out of me.
In case you haven't figured it out, I just turned 75. Still remember the
paper drives, scrap metal drives,
Women's auxiliary rolling bandages in the kitchen.
Always a 2 gallon percolator of coffee on the back of the wood cook range in
the kitchen.
I have found a Philco 116B (tombstone) and 116X (console) and restored them.
Thanx
