Most likely, if they had UHF DF gear. If they did not know about the
system, there would be scant reason to build and deploy the DF gear.

In fact, you could likely DF such a signal with a retuned Rebecca receiver
and BC-929-A ano a pair of Yagis boresighted port and starboard of the
line of flight.
