The AN/ARC-5 was designed with the idea of using lock tuned receivers.  If
it was desirable to be able to tune them, the C-26 was used for each
receiver to be tuned.  This usually was limited to the R-23(A) or R-148 but
tuning dial existed for other receivers as well and were attached to the
tube covers.  

I'm isolated from my reference material at the moment but I vaguely remember
a second control box that included tunable capabilities however I may be
confusing it with something else entirely.  Or maybe with an alternate
reality.  :-)
