Y'know, I tried that one. Kept the parts & wiring for the longest time
after discarding rest. Never could make sense of the conversion
instructions though.

Subject: [ARC5] T-23/ARC-5's need a good home
I have two T-23/ARC-5's that I don't want to toss. I put them on the e place
with a relatively high reserve, but no takers. At least I can say I tried.
Both are unmodified and clean (some surface dust I was too lazy to clean
off), but with the usual slightly banged-up top covers. As usual, they are
very, very clean underneath.
S/N 511: 1625's and 832A's, no crystals. Chassis does not have the phantom
815 socket hole.
S/N 2104: 1625's but no 823(A)'s. Three DC-30 crystals: 6450, 7010, 7810.
Has the phantom 815 hole plugged up.
Looking to trade. Here's my complete current wish list:
Quantity 1: ARC-5 transmitter window (the kind held with screws, not slide
catches... with 0-50 scale, not 5-10-15). Can be with or without good
plastic window.
Quantity 2: Transmitter "Tuning Instruction" plates. Blue or red, the ones
often removed to install a key jack.
Quantity 1: Triple RX shock mount FT-221 or MT-64/ARC-5
Quantity 1: Dual TX shock mount FT-227 or MT-70/ARC-5
Quantity 1: Single TX shock mount MT-68/ARC-5
Quantity 1 Single RX shock mount MT-65/ARR-2
Quantity 1: Control BC-451
Quantity 2: ARC Plug 9589/9377
Quantity 1: Plug PL-154/6964/9122
Cosmetic condition is not an issue.
If I can't trade for any of the above, I'll just put the T-23's on the list
first-come-first served.
Last resort, I'll dig into my old 1950's conversion articles. I think I
remember one:
"You Can Turn This VHF Transmitter Into a Home Intercom"
Step 1: Remove all parts and wiring. Discard.
73,
Ken
