Todd, In a previous discussion on the ZB-3, I mentioned the plotting board
used by Hellcat and SBD pilots for over-water navigation and how it slid
into a compartment under the pilot's instrument panel. By clicking on the
URL you provided and then clicking on "Recovered Planes" (
http://www.atrecovery.com/Pages/Airplanes.htm ) I found this plotting board
in the second picture shown there. It can be seen projecting partially out
of its compartment below the instrument panel. First time I've seen one
since we learned how to do dead reckoning navigation with it in training.
