I think the ability of interchanging radios, depending on local conditions
and mission requirements, makes quite a bit of sense. If an airframe had
both sets of antennas installed, I'd thing the VHF could be swapped in or
out in an hour or so.

I don't know of an HF set than can be swapped with an SCR-522.
