Yep!

Sometimes storage units are a necessity, but anything more than a few
months or year at most, depending in the contents and storage cost, it
begins to go backward fast. I used one for a year or so after putting
my house on the market and preparing to move, just to get some stuff
out of the way so the house would show better. I got one of the
largest units figuring more bang for my buck. Then one day it dawned
on me: if this stuff stays in here much longer I would've been better
off to sell it and buy it again later. Nothing of immense value or
rarity was reduced to storage, mainly odds and ends, some furniture,
display cases, books, etc.

My brother is currently in the same boat. Bought a truckload of
antiques from my sister in NH who placed them in storage for him. He's
from Wyoming but works as one of those private security contractors
traveling a lot. He figures he's paid for the antiques twice by now
($7K x 2) and is working on his third round.

Temporarily only, otherwise grab one of those old worn out shipping
containers and plant it in your yard. If nothing else, it's good
motivation to thin things out.
