Gosh, I wish I had one or two (and a set of coils) to work with too.  The
loathsome creatures have driven the prices of all the needful tubes to being
hollow state gold.

6001 or another one with which I'm unfamiliar?  There's also the 2E30 that's
related to it and is intended for RF.  It is a quick heating tube so I don't
know if that counts.

Hmmm ... wouldn't it be better to leave it triode connected to keep things
simple?  If you're going to go to the trouble of adding the screen, may as
well consider the 837 that the GF used.

This is a project in which I have a bit of interest, Dave, so please keep us
posted.  I'm hoping to find two BC-A*-230s, one for this that's restorable
to join in on this and one "parts or pervert" one to play with.  (This is on
top of the GF/RU rig which is a whole separate project.)  

So many projects await my chewing through these latest leather restraints!
