I rent SIX such units at the same location, four of which are large enough
park my truck inside with a lot of room to spare.  TOTAL monthly cost for
ALL SIX is $320.  The price hasn't changed in 20 years.  

The location is one that I drive by on thw way to work every day and is less
than a mile from my residence.  I store a lot of non-radio gear in them too.
I consider the money well spent.

I think your friend is living in the wrong part of the country.
