[ARC5] Inflation, radios, and cars

I was in China in 1979. The consumer boom was just beginning. The streets
had virtually NO cars. A car, to the average person, was like a Lear Jet
to us. Most Families owned 1 bicycle, which cost about a month's pay.
Owning a Japanese wrist watch or sweater was a big status symbol.
A typical home (1 room apartment for 3 or 4 people) used about 40
Watt-Hours of electricity per MONTH!
Things sure have changed.
