[ARC5] Inflation, radios, and cars

"...As for cars, did y'all hear about the new VW that is going to be built
in China for that market? Single seat, carbon fiber body, bubble canopy like
a P-51D, 1 cylinder diesel engine, gets 250 mpg, at a sales price of $600.
And that is not a typo, SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS..."

***********************************

Our North American consumer culture that is so fixated on "...more, for
less" is doomed to implode in on itself for reasons expounded by the
above...

Witness the "Wal-Mart miracle": in our collective lust to "...get it, & get
it cheaper", we've wholesale forfeited what an entire generation fought to
preserve some 65 years ago. Now all I read in the business section of the
local paper is how indebted the government is to China...to CHINA of all
places!

Who would have known even few short years ago what a great threat just three
little words---"Made In China"---would be upon our current economic
lifestyle, never-mind our political future...?
