I'm not sure about the RU-17/GF-12 (possibly in M4 Shermans) but the
RU-16/GR-11'a were used in M3 and M5 Stuart Light Tanks and in Halftracks. Year
before last I procurred and helped install a set in one of the latter.
Stuarts don't leak too badly but the Halftracks are open vehicles. The boxes
containing the radio set and the remote control box would hardly qualify as
weathertight, let alone watertight.
