Speaking of ARC-5 tube complements, I have a couple of nice pictures of an R-112/ARC-5 that shows the tube compartment. There are of course the three 9003 and one 9002 glass tubes, and the rest are metal except for a 12SL7GT, which is so labeled on the rim of the cover. By the way, the metal tubes all have their nomenclature stenciled in yellow on the top, which I do not think I have seen before.

But one of the metal tubes is an "A5023" It is on the back row next to the 12SL7GT, and the edge of the case next to the tube has that label too, so it is for real. Never heard of it!

Anyone want a copy of these R-112 pictures then drop me a note. I already sent them to Michael.

Also, Gordon White once wrote that some 274-N receivers were converted in WWII in England to blind landing guidance receivers. At http://www.qsl.net/g4bxd/usa.htm there is an actual picture of a couple of these, which seem to have survived to this day.

Wayne, WB5WSV
