-A orders that were painted:
1470-NY-41 by A.R.C.
1509-NY-41 by W.E.
6375-NY-41 by W.E.

The first -B order, 293-PHILA-42 by W.E., was painted.

Sets built under 595-WF-43 and 5529-WF-43 by Colonial
came in both -A and -B, painted and not painted.
Don't yet know the reasons.

Most subsequent transmitters were unpainted -A variants.
The W.E. receivers and modulators went on on up to -E variants
and were unpainted. Colonial had occasional exceptions.
I have no documentation of W.E. sets after 293-WF-43 that were painted.
