I am reading a recent book on the British Spitfire, which has a lot
of cockpit photos. The only radio equipment shown is an oblong 5-button
box (on/off plus four channels) on the left side of the pilot's seat.
While I recall the SCR-522 unit itself (whatever the Brit numbers were)
I don't recall the control. Does that sound like the control for it?

Yes Gordon that's the BC-602 control box for the 522.

SCR 522 is the American version of the British TR-1143 transceiver while
the SCR522 has its own British type number as well, TR-5043.

Ben.
