Yeah, but!  Only the forward moving blades are faster, the retreating blades are slower? (airmass wise anyway)  Does it even out?

Any aircraft that has the wings moving faster than the aircraft itself must
be a helicopter and for that reason is deemed unsafe.  (This from the guy
who planned to use them as a financial stepping stone to jets.  :-) )
