If anyone is still interested, here is some info:

The manual is TB 746-93-1 "Color and Marking of Military Vehicles,
Construction Equipment and Materials Handling Equipment", October 1964

Probably available from:

http://www.portrayal.com/

Their website has a bunch of good links.

The bridge plate was used to indicate weight for all vehicles with a gross
weight over 3 tons and all trailers with a payload of over 1.5 tons.

The plate is 9 inches in diameter, yellow, with 2 sets of removable plates
measuring 3 x 4 3/4 with numerals 0 through 9, black on a yellow background
(as of 1964).

It also has and one plate above measuring 5 1/4 x 2 with a curved top 2 7/8
at the peak, blank on one side, and the letter "C" on the other, the "C"
indicating a "combination", i.e that the vehicle is towing something. In my
case, my M-211 uses a C because it towed the generator; the regs also
required a 6 inch yellow circle with "C" in red to be displayed on the right
side of the vehicle "in a conspicuous location".

If you can't find a copy of the manual, e-mail me off list and I can make a
copy at cost for you.

Hope this helps.

Ken
