Sad, but unfortunately all too common.  It is particularly distressing 
when it occurs in a bare aluminum set.  There is simply no way of 
recovering from the holes, except with a front panel transplant, and 
that requires re-riveting a new panel to the front of the transmitter.  
For an exceptional artifact, it's perhaps worth it, but not generally 
for the bare aluminum 274Ns - there were simply too many of them.  Keep 
it for a century and the situation may change... :-)
