I was incorrect identifying the BC-938 as the immediate ancester of the
C-43/ARC-5. It should have been instead identified as the BC-944. Mike
Hanz discusses it at:

The BC-938 was, IIRC, the immediate ancester to the short-lived C-30/ARC-5
pushbutton VHF and MF/HF transmitter control box, which was replaced by
the very different, much improved, C-30A/ARC-5 selector switch control box.

I know little about the VHF SCR-274-N, but here is my list of corresponding
components:

BC-938 became the C-30/ARC-5 VHF and MF/HF transmitter control
BC-942 became the R-28/ARC-5 VHF receiver
BC-944 became the C-43/ARC-5 VHF and LF/MF/HF receiver control
BC-950 became with modification the T-23/ARC-5 VHF transmitter.

Are there other VHF SCR-274-N components? For example, there is a
C-42/ARC-5 for the R-28, but I do not know if there was an SCR-274-N
equivalent.
