Hi folks,
Some time ago, when our radio club was seeking new premises, we looked like sharing with an Air League group. I noticed the Air League group had no aircraft comms gear - at all! So, I acquired several 190 - 550 kcs Command Rxs, in various states of operability, thinking we would enliven their experience of the air with sounds of dynamotors, WPX and NDB signals. I then set about acquiring the missing OEM parts to make them complete, near original and operational. Eventually, the Air League folks wanted more in the way of rent than the mortgage on my house, so we stepped away. And I am left with 7off BC-453 Rxs.
None of them is complete, let alone in absolutely museum condition - though some come very close. Almost all of them have been rewired for 12 V heaters, as is the wont in Australia - and probably elsewhere. For most of them, I can supply all the parts for you to complete the task I set myself; some of these 'completion' parts are new. You may ask why I am willing to let these sets go - I only have one set of ears and I have some perfectly good BC-453 sets I want to keep for a little longer.
When I got my transmitting licence, my first transmitter was a BC-696. I then set about collecting all the other Txs in the series. Most of my sets arrived heavily modified. So, I then acquired more sets to provide the missing OEM parts. I now have sufficient complete and darned-near original Command Txs - but I also have enough bits to provide complete kits if you want to build your own 3- 4 mcs, 4 - 5.3 mcs or 5.3 - 7 mcs Txs. All they require is some new hook-up wire and a small amount of your time.
I also have one or perhaps two - depending on prior commitments - complete Command set-ups - Rxs, Txs, racks, mounts, cables, connectors, tuning cables, remote control heads, antenna relays, dynamotors and modulators. I am more interested in moving these set-ups complete, rather than selling off sweets to cherry pickers.
The valves / tubes for all these sets are NIOB, new, or tested pulls. If you want NIOB valves / tubes, I am not giving them away - there is a real live market out there and I am well aware of prices. But if you want to build kits, I am only too happy to help you - this also means, that if you want several sets I will negotiate more leniently.
Let me know your interests, and I'll provide more detail and photos.
Let's be friendly to the list and keep your queries off-list.
73 de Brian, VK2GCE.
