Or you can use an adjustable leather punch and punch right through the holes
after the felt is stuck on the cover.  If you carefully cut out a square it
will fit around the dial springs and you will never know the felt is not
original.

Green is the color that all of the commonly available felt was and still is.
You can buy sheets of the stuff at the local hardware store.

You can get the green felt with glue on the backing, ready
to replace the lining in your receiver.
 In case you ever wondered about how to cut the stuff
to fit correctly- you don't.  Use a small soldering iron.
It will melt out the holes and edges, leaving you with a
good fit.
