Jay,
As Mike said, R-584/MRC-20 was part of AN'MRC-20. AN/MRC-20 c/o AN/ARC-8
(w/R-584 instead of a stock BC-348), AN/ARC-3 and AN/ARC-27. It was a
talk-to-anything-flying (this was early 50's before ground support aircraft began
carrying low VHF FM sets) mobile or ground station normally mounted on an M38, M38A1
or M37. Included a gasoline powered PE-246 generator.
The R-584 was converted from either BC-348-Q or BC-348-R. The receiver can
be made to work by installing a jumper plug.
Hutch, I finally found the TM this morning while moving some stuff to get at
something else. I'll get back on the R-584 manual excerpt after Brent's Open
House.
