Most of you know I've been working on ways to run mil transmitters
on low B+, and also a means to use some of my very-QRP
"ferry radios" on the air. I got that external amp operational
and thought you'd like to see a couple of photos of the first
on-the-air test, which used a BC-611 for drive and delivered
100W PEP on 3885 KC. 611 audio sounds like talking into
a tin can (because you *are* :-), but that's OK for a first demo.
I"ve added another PTT switch since the "face" photo and am working
on an automatic RF-sensing circuit to do the switching.
I'm writing the effort up for a mag article as part of the
"Shockless Boatanchoring" series, but thought you'd like
a preview:

Someone here was also working on one of these and provided
an answer to a big question that "turned the key in the lock,"
but I can't find the email to thank him! If that was you, please
speak up so I can credit you in the writing. Thanks.
