Hi everyone,
I'm a bit late chiming in on this topic.
I have one of these also.My guess it was an atempt to give the
operator a better "feel" for the switch. But that brings up another
point:Were local controled sets installed in aircraft? Or where were
they used,if not? Mine and the one that was auctioned have a toggle
with the little white dot that glows in UV I beleive.(Can't confirm
that at the moment as the set is packed right now.)
On mine the original stamping is partialy scratched out and the A
added by scribe.I recall that the panel lettering was etched and filled
but can't confirm that either at this time.

I agree with Robert in that this looks to be a converted FT-230,
but it appears to have been done as part of an
official military order, given the new stamping on the inner surface.
I'd count this as a "real" and thus collectable variant of the FT-260.
