There are several Handbook receivers that use a 1700 Khz
IF, and "band-imaging", covering both 80 and 40 meters
with a single-band 5.2 - 5.7 Mhz VFO, and those
transformers are literally SNAPPED UP by those of us who
want to build those little rigs.

The 1415 Khz IF transformers can be very easily "tweaked"
to 1700 Khz.

5.7 - 1.7 = 4.0, 5.2 - 1.7 = 3.5, 5.7 +1.7 = 7.4, 5.2 + 1.7 =
6.9.

A couple of versions of this receiver are capable of single-
signal reception.

You could also tweak them to 1500 Khz, and use a
Heathkit 5.0 - 5.5 Mhz VFO to build a dandy 80 meter
receiver, then use some converters with it.
