Found the main book I was trying to remember with the towers on front.
It's titled "RADAR: A Wartime Miracle" By Latham and Stobb. Amazon and
B&N both list it in paperback, hardcover is apparently MUCH more
pricey. It came out in the 96/97 timeframe which was during the period
I was all-consumed first by Knickebien ('crooked leg') and its
countermeasures, then Chain Home RADAR. I recall it being praised for
using understandable geek-speak to explain the technical aspects.
