Tim asked:
>Is there any source of reasonably priced VT-4-C of 211 tubes...
Sadly, no. The 211 became a sacred relic to vacuum-tube audiofools many
years ago. I've even heard of instances of purchases of a BC-375 only
for the tubes. Expect about $100 per VT-4-C. Thity years ago one would
have run about a dollar, IIRC.
The VT-25A (type 10) speech amp in the BC-375 is in a similar state with
audioidiots. Thus it will be very expensive too. That's why the once
common BC-230 and BC-430 transmitters are now usually found without tubes.
They use two VT-25C and two VT-52 (type 45) tubes. Even the VT-52 is
sacrosanct with the VT A-crowd.
Another such tube is the 2A3 used in the BC-610.
