No, I'd think not.   I have one that I use among my various command set 
receivers as the mood strikes, but I've heard that folks have taken a 
short length of some relatively soft metal (copper) 1/4" tubing and 
driven it over the splines and then put the knob on the other end.

Or there was an idea in the latest QST magazine, let's see.... page 75 
of the Jan 2009 issue, in which he used a short length of 3/16 ID 
plastic tubing to act as a coupler from the spline to a stub of 1/4" 
shaft material, all inside of a brass threaded 3/8" NPT pipe cap from 
the hardware store (for support of the shaft).
