Probably a combination of the things you've mentioned Dave, combined
with the 'holiday' time of year, onset of winter (less
daylight/sunshine), bad economy, uncertainty/fear from the current
political issues and climate, and so on.

One of the things I attribute it to more and more is the amount of
time spent online vs. on the air or out in the real world. As people
find the perception of bigger stage and greater audience through the
internet, it becomes easier for some to substitute an online life for
actual face-to-face interaction with their fellow man. Let's face it -
the 'net provides a great platform for one to further their views,
feed their ego, or otherwise promote an agenda of any type. And people
do things online they'd not think of doing in person, as they hide
behind the keyboard.

Like you, I've seen some of the same in myself, especially after
spending too much time on here. Haven't been on much as of late and
life has been a lot better as a result. Got back on in recent days to
track down some info on recent equipment acquisitions, found the same
ol' same ol, and sure enough - ended up asking myself what I'm doing
here. Even stopped visiting an online board where I moderate, just
sick of the same few lounge lizards promoting themselves and looking
to get their egos stroked. Then again - it can't be much fun not
having a real life.

Was in my mid 30s when I first got on here, and now pushing 50, the
good wife says I'll make an excellent cranky old man someday. At times
I wonder if I'm already there.

Need to get back to those hands-on projects, and spend more time on the air.
