[ARC5] Command Set Construction

    I've been going through my Command Set collection  and came upon an Old 
190-550 KC unit with an MFP date of 1952.  But the odd  part of the unit is 
that all the metal work has welded corners instead of the  die formed units 
common to all of my other Command sets be they ARC-5, 274/N CBY  etc.  Even 
the inner cover over the tuning capacitor has welded seams  rather than the 
typical die formed units.  Unfortunately the thing has seen  some 
conversion work so it is not a specimen for a museum. It's a Navy unit and  I don't 
recall who made it.  Any ideas?
