[ARC5] T-19

IMHO, the TRC-1 system, of which the T-19/TRC-1 was a
part, was one of the most forward-looking systems of
equipment ever put in operation during WWII.

I understand that at some "radio meet" after WWII at which
a German communications expert was in attendance, he
stood up in the audience and spoke of the admiration and
wonder of the German technical services for our FM
systems.

The TRC-1 system was pretty impressive.

I have two manuals which cover the installation, operation,
and maintenance of the system, and the system is
impressive even by today's standards.

I have often thought that the entire TRC-1 system, and its
use in WWII, would be an excellent subject for both a book,
and for a discussion group.

However, it is not well known, and hasn't the "press" that
the ARC-5 system, and others like it, enjoy.

Furthermore, it was hardly ever used by hams or
"converted" (read butchered) by us hams for ham use. It
was simply too advanced.

BTW, I think that Link had a LOT to do with the design and
operation of this system.

Link was never well known either, and I think that is a real
shame. Heck, I can't even remember his first name, and a
search of Wikipedia turns up nothing.
