I just tried something for the rust stain still remaining on the bottom
cover.Toothpaste.Actually Crest brand Baking Soda & Peroxide Whitening
formula. It worked!Didn't scratch the surface any. There is still
discoloration of the metal but it is not rust staining but probably
oxide or some resultant from electrolosis.

BTW I could use a 1626.Doesn't have to be the brightest bulb in the
lamp.I do not think I will put power to this Tx,just would like to have
a fairly decent example.I now have the series T15 to T-23,some very
good but most are average.Please don't tell me there's a T-14,T-13,
etc.I want to be done with the search! and get to the work!

Jay & the gang -

Good luck getting that little jewel cleaned up Jay.

I recently bought an ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight and am
having real good luck with it (their number 95563-3VGA). I would not
want to put a painted part in it but it does a real good job on smaller
pieces, either plated or unpainted - might be useful in cleaning small
parts or hardware in that T-15. The cleaner has a built-in heater,
which is pretty much essential. HF sells a detergent for use in the
cleaner - I believe it is just repackaged Alconox (common
industrial-grade detergent).

Has anyone ever tried etching for badly corroded Command Set sheet
metal parts?
