True, especially since it would usually be set to VOICE and covered with a
box fastened with screws.  But I doubt there was ever need for operating this
switch since the plate-modulated AN/ARC-5 doesn't require transmitter tune up
in the CW mode that the screen-modulated ATA and SCR-274-N transmitters 
require.  AN/ARC-5 installations seem to have settled logically on
"all VOICE all the time" mode of operation.  Even receiver controls like 
the common C-38 and C-125/ARC-5 have no BFO control (except for the
AN/ARR-2 portion of the C-38).

One of my BC-375s is in pretty good shape except for the engraved silver
panel control labeling, which has almost all completely disappeared.  I'm
sure it would take an effort similar to what you describe.  What you've shown
of your C-29 is a wonderful restoration.  I haven't the patience, and more
importantly, the skill to do anything similar.
