I don't think that's completely the case, Jay. Most folks seem to
agree with including information about amateur history and use, just
not a road map for destruction. The assumption being that anyone
getting a modded unit could and would do the same as the rest of us,
if desired: locate the original surplus articles for
reverse-engineering. Maybe even having a listing of the publications
and dates under a special 'Removing Modifications' heading would be
appropriate.

Putting the actual diagrams and instructions for modification in the
same book as the description and history might end up making it the
latest and greatest 'Command Sets' modification guide, with enhanced
history. Probably not what the author has in mind.

Of course, anyone who is determined to modify an old set can and will.
I just wouldn't care to give them step-by-step instructions.
Considering the interests (and limited numbers) of today's new hams,
it's not likely to be a problem anyhow.
