[ARC5] AM-26/AIC and A.R.C. type connectors

The first question is probably the easiest, that being who created the
AM-26? There's no all fired hot reason to ask, I'm just curious.
The second is a bit more amusing. I know about the AM-26; ARC-3, -36
and -49; and the ARR-2 but were the A.R.C. type connectors used
elsewhere during the war? (The Type K and WE VHF components don't
count since they're so obvious.) I'm trying to get a feel for how far
they propagated and, if I'm lucky, why since the Cannon & Amphenol
connectors were superior in design.
I'm also trying to get an idea when they abandoned the phenolic
insulators in favor of ceramic ones. Some very early Type 12
connectors were phenolic but they may have just been using up existing
stock of materials. At the same time, I've heard rumors of ceramic
insulated ones used with postwar ARC-3 (etc) and ARC-5 equipment.
Best regards,
Michael, WH7HG
