Why would a pilot want to net his receiver to his own transmitter?
Doesn't it make more sense for the Squadron Leader to key his
transmitter and all pilots turn on their BFO's and zero beat to him?
That process puts everyone's receiver on the same frequency.
Of course it doesn't ensure that their transmitters are all on the
same frequency, but they are not adjustable by the pilot and must
have been calibrated by the pre-flight ground crew anyway.
