The RU model is important. The 14v RU-18 and 28v RU-19 systems are
stand-alone receiving sets which do NOT supply a transmitter. Thus the
complete RU-18/19 set is significantly different overall from the more
common RU-* receivers used with GF-* transmitters (like RU-17/GF-12).
The central junction box of the RU-18/19 sets is designed to connect up
to two receivers to the common dynamotor, while the RU/GF junction box
is designed to connect one receiver and one transmitter to the common
dynamotor and to each other. The RU-18/19 receiver units are internally
wired a little differently than the RU/GF units in order to maintain
about the same receiver supply voltages regardless of whether one or
two receivers are plugged into the junction box. The junction boxes
are very different electrically.

The RU-18 or -19 would be the ideal mate to a GP-7 or a GO-9 (especially
a two-receiver version with the GO-9).

Not "bad" per se, but a bit bizarre, from a historical context. The ARB would
also be out of place with a GO-9. I'd feel better (slightly) with a RAX-1 if no
RU-19 were available, but a complete RAX-1 system is orders of magnitude harder
to obtain than a RU-19 system.

Except for the last sentence, a TCS receiver comes to mind. They are very
common, and once much used by hams. See picture at:
