You mean the AN/ARC-49, which like the AN/ARC-36 and the AN/ARC-3, uses the J-68(*)/ARC-3.

The AN/ARC-48 is a small four-channel single-unit crystal-controlled UHF set, about one-tenth the size of the VHF AN/ARC-49.  The AN/ARC-49 is a USAF set identical to the AN/ARC-3 except for number of channels.  The AN/ARC-48 is a USN set, unlike any other set of the 1950s era.

One digit off makes a LOT of difference!
