[ARC5] Needful Things Redux

Okay, once more into the breach ...

I've managed to isolate what I need for the current projects (ARC-60,
older and newer R-13A-based ARN-30, system built around the A.R.C.
C-40) plus lead-in to a few pending ones. This is over and beyond
what I have and what several people are holding for me. Numbers in
parentheses are for quantities other than one.

Needed Maintenance & Operating manuals:

ATA/ARA (What's the difference between the ARA and ARA-2?), AN/ARC-39,
AN/APN-1, AN/ARC-38A, Collins 18S-4, AN/ARC-1 & AM-26/AIC-2.
(AN/AIC-10 would be nice since I may wind up doing the same thing
about audio that Mike Hanz did but different.)

With that, I need TM 11-200 plus anything covering models missed by it
except SCR-AC-183, SCR-AS-183, and SCR-AO-283. Mostly what I need is
what equipment was in each system and what was compatible with what as
far as unit swapping went. This is to make detailed lists like I'm
building for the GF/RU systems. Knowing if it was replacement, for
training or reserve aircraft, etc would be a bonus.

Equipment, parts and other stuff needed:

1.) ARC-5 and ARR-2:

T-19, R-26, RE-2, J-16 (2), J-17(A), C-35 ARR-2 Control Box (Electric
tuning), F-5 Power Filters (5+).

MT-4 ARR-2 Control Box Mounting Plate (2), MT-5 (3), MT-7A, MT-62,
MT-70, MT-71, MT-76, MT-77, MT-78 (4), MT-85, MT-98, MX-22 or
equivalent (6).

Ceramic Beads for the antenna lead from the T-19 to the RE-2.

2.) A.R.C. Type 12, Type 15 etc items:

R-19 (An R-508 would be better since it's going into an ARC-60 and
everything else military numbered), C-53 (ARC-60 CB), C-1254/ARN-30,
R-20, B-13 Converter (Can't be a B-13A or anything, it has to be a
B-13.), F-10 VAR Filter, J-10 (2), J-13(A) or J-15(A), 9375 or 14589
Caps or some mix thereof (5), transmitter tube cover.

M-11 (3), M-12 (3), M-23.

A-15 or AN-104 in any combination (3), L-10 (2), A-13 (AS-580/ARN-30).

All the parts, manuals etc for an ARN-59 (Type 21A).

3.) Needed Connectors (All A.R.C. numbers):

9123 (5), 9124 (2), 9125 (8), 9126, 9585, 9589 (2), 9821 (3), 14050
(2), 14320 (2), 14491 (2), 16743, 16744 (2). I don't have a problem
with variations on these (open wire vs shielded, USAAF vs AN vs
A.R.C., etc) since I know shortages happen.

4.) Other things:

Tuning Cables, Approximately 6' in length (8). (A little longer is
good, shorter may work in some cases.)

AM-26/AIC cover or the measurements to make one and a shock mount or
enough info to fabricate one.

AN/ARC-1 rack, control head & connectors.

AN/AIC-10 components but they're like the manual, nice but not needed quite yet.

Since some of the connectors are unavailable, if anyone has damaged
connectors surplus to his or her needs, I can use them to make the
missing ones. I know Fair has some of the connectors but I'd rather
buy from friends like you good people.

I know that a number of racks & shock mounts are in short supply. I
can probably fix and re-tag bent, broken or otherwise damaged ones
from any of the Type K-based systems. (This will give me good cause
to learn how to weld thin aluminum as well.)

I'm also interested in converted units, parts units etc –
transmitters, receivers, racks, control boxes, pretty much everything.
This covers the A.R.C. spectrum not just the Type K based sets and
includes adjunct sets like the WE VHF equipment plus items like broken
or cut off ends from tuning cables.

Where can I get lots of appropriate wiring for between the early 50s
and the early 60s? This project has grown well beyond what I had
originally anticipated and what I have on hand is sadly inadequate
now. I may later also need WW II appropriate wiring for a GF/RU setup
so a source of this would be good as well.

And finally, does anyone happen to have some of the little red
enameled badges A.R.C. put on the front of some of their equipment?
I'd like a few if possible. A few of the CW keys from the C-87 or
BC-451 or similar would also be very, very handy for a separate
project.

I now have a toll free fax number so if anyone's interested please
contact me off-list.

Best regards,

Michael, WH7HG
